H.I.S. Co.'s Vietnam unit has carried out a tree-planting initiative at the UNESCO-listed My Son sanctuary in central Vietnam as part of a cooperation agreement with the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center aimed at stimulating travel demand, according to a release issued on August 10.

H.I.S. Song Han VN Tourist Co., Ltd., based in Da Nang, planted 200 morinda trees in My Son village in Da Nang, Vietnam, on July 24. The company said the activity was intended to help preserve the natural landscape and protect soil conditions at the heritage site.

The local subsidiary signed a memorandum of understanding with the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center to promote tourism demand. The agreement covers initiatives aligned with green tourism and sustainable tourism development, joint publicity and promotional activities for Da Nang tourism, sharing of marketing data and information, and development of products and programs aimed at attracting more travelers from Japan.

My Son was inscribed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1999. The temple complex represents a major religious architectural legacy of the ancient Champa Kingdom, which flourished between the 4th and 13th centuries. According to the release, many structures at the site were damaged by natural disasters and war, and preservation and restoration efforts are continuing to pass on its historical and cultural value to future generations.

The release said conservation of the surrounding natural landscape and forest ecosystem has also become an important issue for sustainable development at the site.

As another measure under the memorandum, HIS Vietnam donated staff uniforms to Da Nang's cyclo tourism team. The company said it aims to support local communities and contribute to sustainable tourism development through environmentally conscious tourism products.
