Sharp Energy Solutions takes full control of Vietnam solar unit

Sharp Energy Solutions Co. Ltd. has made its Vietnam solar power venture a wholly owned subsidiary after acquiring all shares held by local partner NSN Construction & Engineering JSC, according to a July 24 release.

The Japanese company completed the share acquisition on June 30 for SHARP NSN ENERGY SOLUTION JSC, a joint venture engaged in solar power plant-related business in Vietnam. The unit had changed its name on May 28 to SHARP ENERGY SOLUTION VIETNAM COMPANY LIMITED, or SESV.

Based in Hanoi and operating since March 2020, SESV provides EPC services for solar power plants, covering engineering, procurement and construction, as well as O&M services, or operation and maintenance. Following the transaction, Sharp Energy Solutions owns 100% of the unit.

Sharp Energy Solutions, a Sharp Corp. subsidiary, handles energy solutions businesses including solar system sales and electrical equipment construction. The company said full ownership is intended to speed decision-making and unify business operations in Vietnam, where renewable energy demand continues to expand.

The company plans to use SESV as a base to widen its business scope in Vietnam, including rooftop solar systems for factories and commercial facilities and solar power plants equipped with battery energy storage systems, or BESS.

SESV is headed by Hideaki Hakushika. NSN Construction & Engineering, headquartered in Hanoi, is a general contractor involved in electrical and mechanical installation work, construction and civil engineering, and design consulting.

Vietnam has emerged as one of Southeast Asia's notable solar markets in recent years, driven by industrial power demand and broader investment in renewable energy. Rooftop solar for factories and commercial buildings, along with battery storage paired with solar generation, has become an area of focus as manufacturers seek stable power supply and energy cost management.
